Put the crank handle in the down position and then use the arrows on the gears to guide you. The two gears that hold the two spirals should be closest to you. Make the two arrows on the gears point directly at each other(keeping the crank in the down position). The third gear's arrow (furthest from you) should point directly at you bisecting an imaginary line formed by the other two arrows pointing at each other.

The idea is to get the spirals lined up so they create a channel for a ball to fit in. Jan 29, 2013. As far as the fuel pump goes, rotate the engine by hand. You should be able to do this with a 15/16 socket on the alternator pulley. It will pop up and rotate untill the pump comes up about a half inch, this will make the cam lobe come up to the point where YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DROP ANYTHING ELSE IN THE ENGINE.:) when you go back together put the pump back in, being carefull to keep the tappet in the pump, then rotate the engine untill the pump sits flush. With the intake problem there may be a screen in the intake just for this reason, some had this and some didn't and I'm not sure when they started putting them in.

Here’s a classic old one-cent Ford gum machine. This machine has its original glass globe with the Ford decal. The chrome is shiny and clean. The mechanism works perfectly.
